General Information
Situated in the
beautiful Rocky Mountains of Colorado, about 20 miles West of Colorado
Springs. At 9000' we enjoy sunshine, fresh air and beautiful views of
Pikes Peak from our 35 acre training grounds. Our training ground
includes a full size, permanent Schutzhund field, 5 individual kennels,
containing 20 indoor/outdoor climate controlled runs, a 2880 sq. ft.
training building, tracking grounds, obedience and agility field, and our
USPCA (police) field. We have the ability to host any trial, including
Schutzhund and the USPCA PD1, PD2 or Detector Trial - right here on our
grounds.
By being
centrally located, we have access to the Denver, Colorado Springs, and Vail
airports. We occasionally do pick-ups at the Aspen airport as well.
This gives you many options for pick-ups and return, whether you dog is here
for Board and Train, Stud Service, or just to relax with us while you are on
vacation. It also gives you more flexibility if you are coming in for
a training course or to compete at Pikes Peak Schutzhund and Police
Association.

Carl Reif
Carl Reif is
the Owner and Master Trainer of Advanced K-9 and the K-9 Trainer for
several local police departments. He has dedicated his life to
helping owners build a positive, successful relationship with their
dogs.
Carl Reif and
Advanced K-9 Training have police and detector dogs working successfully
throughout America. He is recognized as an expert in dog behavior
and has a natural gift for understanding each dog he comes into contact
with. Carl has also worked with the local animal shelter saving
many dogs condemned to die through behavior modification techniques.
Because of his recognized insight and experience he has testified as an
expert in dog behavior.
Carl Reif is
also an internationally recognized trainer - being the first
international trainer ever to be invited to teach a public seminar in
South Korea. He has trained executive protection dogs for top
executives around the world and has worked with many retired Special
Forces. He has trained and competed with several dog breeds in
Schutzhund competition.

Training Bio
Prior to 1995, I was an amateur dog trainer, doing obedience classes,
working with my sled dog, and just playing around. I was born into a house
with a German Shepherd, "Trooper". He was my guardian, then my inspiration.
He inspires me daily to keep learning. I believe the more I learn, the more
dogs and people I can help.
- 1995 Gave up world of Sales and Advertising to become a Professional
Dog Trainer.
- 1996 Completed Cornell University’s summer program, "Solving Canine
Behavior Problems".
Certified with Blue, Siberian Husky, as Therapy Dog Team
with Therapy Dogs, Inc.
- 1997 Master Trainer course 2000 hrs and over 200 dogs.
Narcotic Search and Instructor Trainer. This was 200
hours of training and over 50 dogs.
High in Trial for SchH 1 (279).
Invited to be on the AWDF Team with Arco.
- 1998 (to present) Certified Pet Care Technician through the American
Boarding Kennel Association.
(to present) Founded Pikes Peak Schutzhund and Police Association, a
SchH USA Club. Presently the Training Director and President.
(to present) Qualified as a Tester / Evaluator for Therapy Dogs,
Inc.
(to present) Received Department of Justice / DEA License.
(to present) Volunteer for Woodland Park School District for drug and
bomb searches.
1999 Became 1st International Trainer to ever be invited to
publicly teach a dog behavior seminar in South Korea.
Designed "Instinctive Combat Shooting System" for K-9 Officers.
2000 (to present) Employed as K-9 Trainer for Lafayette Police
Department, CO.
(to present) Employed as K-9 Trainer and Patrol / Narcotics /
Explosive Handler for Travel’n Mandogs, a Private security company based
in California.
First time recognized in Court of Law as Expert Witness on Dog
Behavior.
Asked to be Evaluator of dog behavior for AARF rescue group.
Taught 2nd seminar in South Korea.

- 2001 Employed as K-9 Trainer for Cokeville Police Dept, WY.

State of Wyoming, Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission,
recognized the Dual-Purpose Police K-9 Handler course that I
Developed and Instructed.
State of Oregon, Department of Public Safety Standard and Training,
recognized 2 courses that I Developed and Instructed. Basic
Tactical K-9 Firearms and Dual-Purpose Police K-9 Handler.
Trained first dog and handler in Colorado to be certified by the
USPCA for Arson Detection.
Completed building 35 acre training facility / kennel in Divide, CO.
Received Colorado State License.
(to present) Qualified as NRA Pistol Instructor.
2002 Trainer, Handler, and / or Consultant for 13 segments for the
Animal Planet television show, "Busted".
Started training dogs for members of the Search Dog Network.
(to present) Qualified as an AKC - Canine Good Citizen Evaluator.
Completed Monadock’s Advanced Expandable Baton and PR24
certification.
Qualified as Apprentice Instructor in Paul Vunak's, Rapid Assault
Tactics System.
Received ATF - Federal Firearms License.
Completed TMTA - Tactical Patrol Officer Training Program with
Trinidad P.D..
A dog from our breeding was titled SchH 1 in Germany.
2003 (to present) Qualified as an Instructor for American Red
Cross Adult, Child, Infant CPR / First Aid, AED.
Completed ARC - Pet First Aid and CPR.
Developed Advanced K-9's SAR program, "Time is Everything" and puppy
program, "Getting Started Right".
2004 One of the dogs I trained worked security (explosive detection)
at the Academy Awards after party.
Started studying Judo and grappling with Suzuran Judo. Currently a
green belt.
2005 Asked to be the dog behavior Evaluator for TCRAS.
Invited to be on the Board of Directors for the Teller County
Regional Animal Shelter. Currently serving as Board
President of TCRAS.
American Boarding Kennel’s Certified Advanced Pet Care Technician.
American Red Cross’s Wilderness First Aid Instructor.
Drug Beat National Certifying Agent for detector, patrol, tracking,
personal protection.
I have trained handlers and / or dogs in over 20 States, as well as in
Canada, South Korea, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Argentina,
Switzerland, Iraq, Bosnia, Kosovo, and Germany.
I have personally titled a Doberman, Giant Schnauzer, and several German
Shepherds in Schutzhund. I also had the privilege of handling and training
"Iraq". He was the North American French Ring III Champion. One of my goals
is to personally title a Rottwieler and Malinois in Schutzhund. This may be
accomplished during the summer of 2005. I have trained detector dogs in
cadaver, arson, explosives, and drugs. I have trained dogs that have been
certified by the USPCA, NAPWDA, USDA federal standards, Utah POST and SAR
organizations
